Place of print is Rome. 1765. 155 x 85 mm.([16],399,[1]pp.) This booklet was obiovisly done to be a description of the "grand prospecte" of Rome which was executed by Giuseppe Vasi (1710-82). Nevertheless it was also to be used as a seperate introduction and "Tour Guide" for tourists who viseted Rome in the middle of the 18th century. Illustrated with 32 small (ca. 62 x 42 mm) copperplates inside the text, (in this copy the plate no.44 Tav.31 showing the "Campa Vaccino" is not printed even there are left space for it on the page 48) and an additional copper on Titlepage, as well the Spanish Royal Cote of Arms before the Introduction. All executed by Vasi. 6 editions of his Guide to Rome was printed during his lifetime (1763,1765,1770,1771,1773 and 1777). This edition is the second and dedicated to the King Carlos III of Spain. The book is printed on strong paper and is in a very good condition (only last page is a little soiled). Delicate late 19th century board binding with leather title on spine (little worn).
