REF 1).The booke of Common Prayer is dated 1611.--- REF 2) The Genealogies is undadated first published in 1611 or 1612 it seems to be from this edition which also is indicated by the strong and clear impression of the map of Canaan.---REF 3 and 4) The Bible is not dated on the Main Titlepage but on the part titlepage of The New Testament Where it is dated 1611. (On the Colophone is said: Imprinted at London: By Robert Barker..., 1612.(Lacks in this Copy)).______ The edition of this Bible and New Testament IS NOT the King James Version even it is published in the same year (1611). It is the so called "Geneva or Beza Bible". _____________ Condition: Bound in a simple new black clothbinding with red label title on spine. REF 1). Title mounted with a few lacunes affecting some letters and margin. Little soiled. REF 2). Some (4) pages reinforced, mainly on lower margins, without loose of text or illustrations. REF. 3 and 4). Titlepage mounted. Page 1 of Genesis and the 4 first pages of The New Testament reinforced on margins without loss of text. The last 2 pages of index skilfully repaired with loss of a few words in text. Last page of New Testament lacks. Otherwise in a complete and good state. Little browned and well used. But newer the less a good copy with many, partly full page illustrations and maps executed in woodcuts and engravings.

The books of the apocrypha were not preserved in the Jewish tradition (as reflected in the Hebrew masoretic text). Though many of them were originally composed in Hebrew, they have reached us mostly in Greek form, as found in the Septuagint and preserved by the church. In modern times there has been renewed Jewish interest in these books, which has resulted in a few translations into Hebrew. In the 19th century most of the apocrypha was translated by Seckel Isaac Fraenkel in Ketuvim Aharonim -- FIRST EDITION - ORGINALAUSGABE.

A very nice and good preserved copy of this important bible edition. Three editions of this bible was prited, this is the First. Darlow and Moule no. . Brunet p.319: "M. de Rossi, dans son Apparetus hebraeo-biblicus, dit que l'on peut placer cette edition au rang des plus correctes, des plud importantes et des plus rare". Encyclopaedia Judaica vol.11 p.1110: "The earliest notation of the European Sephardic tradition of the Masoretic accents was published in the Hebrew Bible of Berlin in 1699 by Daniel Jablonski, for whom it was furnished by David de Pinna, one of the Parnessim of the Portuguese Community of Amsterdam." A light watershade on first two leaves. Paper little browned due to quality, but in an overall very good state.
